![]() I get his dad seems a bit damaged and Sam's still wrapping his head around things but I'd be crying and laughing and yelling at him about not being around when I pee'd my pants on the first day of highschool. Kevin disappearing shaped Sam's whole life and must've been heartbreaking, so when they meet in the Grid, there's a distinct lack of emotion. Sam and Kevin's interactions are just weird. I'm not saying he's Alan Rickman but if Cillian's in a movie, he's going to be the chew up the scenery bad guy, right? There might be a reason for this but why have Cillian Murphy in the movie and not do anything with him. And yeah, the movie is called Tron so maybe do something more with him. It obviously was meant to foreshadow the Rinzler reveal but we could've used another 10 minutes of that like it's the Matrix. The flashback to the coup where Tron busts out his grid-fu gave me a nerdgasm like the lightsaber fight between Obi-wan and Darth Maul. I even thought they were pulling a Gladiator when Sam pulls the blue programs together during the light cycles match but that obviously didn't go anywhere. If the whole movie had revolved around this, I would've been happy. I love the first third of the movie, particularly the Games (the discwars sequence is brilliant). I just wish that they'd made more with what they had. Like everyone is saying, the visual style, soundtrack and follow through on the original's themes are all great. Tron: Legacy may have had problems but I'm glad they made it all the same.
